In a few weeks it will once again be time for us to meet, greet, and play games as a cohesive Department of English. The 2019 Annual Softball Potluck will soon be upon us and, whether you are a graduate student or member of faculty, there is no better opportunity to catch up with busy, dearly-missed friends, welcome new folks into our department, and crush them all at your game of choice. You are all officially invited!

softball-image3This year’s event will take place on Friday, September 6th at Dovercourt Park (near the Dufferin subway station).

It begins at 3:00 PM, when new and old graduate students are invited to Meet and Greet their partners in the Siblings program.

The potluck gets rolling at 4:00 PM. Please bring out your most hearty and delicious home recipes and/or most indulgent supermarket snacks to share with friends and colleagues. Lists of ingredients will make things easier for those of us with dietary restrictions and allergies.

The annual “Student vs. Faculty” softball game will also take place at 4:00 PM. Bats, balls, and (some) gloves will be provided, though bringing your own glove (if you have one) would be much appreciated. Softballers of all levels are welcome to participate—never-thrown-a-ball to never-miss-slugger. And if softball isn’t your bag, a less taxing (but no less rousing) game of croquet is also scheduled to take place.

Please take a moment to RSVP here.

We look forward to seeing you there!
André Babyn, Alexander Sarra-Davis, and Adam Hammond, on behalf of the Staff-Student Relations Committee
