CIBC Run for the Cure - "Speed Readers - U of T English"

Event date: Sunday, October 01, 2017, at 10:00 AM

To English graduate students, faculty, and staff,

YOU ARE INVITED to join our department team called "Speed Readers - U of T English" for the CIBC Run for the Cure. Each year, graduate students, faculty, and staff in English join in the Toronto run/walk (5km or 1km) in support of breast cancer research, to start and end at the University of Toronto (St. George Campus) on Sunday, October 1, 10 am.

This is the fourteenth exciting year for "Speed Readers." We are very proud that the team has raised over $60,000 in support of breast cancer research since its inauguration in 2004. We are inviting everyone, new and continuing graduate students, current faculty and retirees, staff, and families to get involved and make this a great year for the team!

You can participate in one or both of the ways outlined below -- (1) run/walk and/or (2) donate!

(1) Participate as a team member

First thing is to register at Follow the links to "register on a team," selecting "Toronto" as the run site and searching for "Speed Readers."

You've found us if the official name appears as:

Team Name: Speed Readers - U of T English.

Once you've located the team, select "join" and then fill in your personal information. Registration involves committing to raise a minimum of $150 through donations or paying a (non-refundable) $45 registration donation online.

T-Shirts: Include information about your t-shirt size when you register. Please also email desired t-shirt size -- unisex S, M, L, or XL -- to Meg Desmond and cc Lynne Magnusson , who will collect and distribute the Speed Readers shirts. You must have raised $150 in donations or paid $45 registration before noon on Thursday 14 September to receive a T-shirt with the team name.

Please register as soon as possible. Then your friends can easily donate online to sponsor your run or walk: please encourage them to do so.

(2) Participate as a donor

You can support any runner or walker on the team. Once team members have registered, donations in their support can be made easily at the Run for the Cure website. We'll send out a list of registered participants you can sponsor once term has started. Donations can also be made to sponsor the team as a whole.

Hoping you'll get involved.
