Speed Readers practice run - CIBC Run for the Cure

Event date: Saturday, September 22, 2018, at 9:00 AM

You are invited to join our department team called "Speed Readers - U of T English" for the CIBC Run for the Cure. For the past fifteen years, graduate students, faculty, and staff in English have joined in the Toronto run/walk (5kmor 1km) in support of breast cancer research. The run/walk starts and finishes at the University of Toronto (St. George Campus) on Sunday, September 30th, at 10am.

This is a wonderful way to get to know English department colleagues, get fit,and contribute to a great cause! We are planning Saturday practice runs for the team in the beautiful Cedarvale ravine on September 8, 15, and 22 (9 am). We meet outside the Heath St. exit at the St. Clair West subway station. Then after a run or walk (as short as you like, and as long as 5km) we convene at the second floor of Loblaws Forest Hill Market, on St. Clair West between Bathurst and Spadina, for muffins and coffee. You can walk or run at any pace. Our team always includes snails and hares.

This is the landmark fifteenth year for "Speed Readers." We are very proud that the team has raised over $60,000 in support of breast cancer research since its inauguration in 2004. We are inviting everyone, new and continuing graduate students, current faculty and retirees, staff, and families to get involved and make this a greatyear for the team!

You can participate in one or both of the ways outlined below -- (1) run/walk and/or (2) donate!
