In Memoriam: Professor Patricia Howard
Professor Patricia Howard passed away on Sunday 21st July. After a number of years teaching at Bryn Mawr College, Patricia joined the University of Toronto as an assistant professor of English in 1966 and continued to teach in the Department and at Innis College until her retirement in 2003. Patricia's passion was drama, both early modern and contemporary. A distinguished editor of Modern Drama, she published the Revels edition of George Peele's The Old Wives Tale (Manchester UP) in 1980 and numerous articles and reviews, many of them focused on the work of Samuel Beckett. She was a brilliant teacher and a vital member of the Graduate Centre for the Study of Drama. She was also a talented water-colourist and a regular performer with Poculi Ludique Societas. She loved the Department: her kindness and resilient good humour will be sorely missed.
