Brief Description of Course: A survey of Canadian literature in English that will investigate, through careful reading of Canada's best short fiction and poetry, the development of the Canadian literary canon and tradition. As well, we will consider the interaction of Canadian writing with perceptions of national “identity”—and the changing relationship of contemporary readers to these issues and texts.
