Brief Description of Course:
A close study of Chaucer’s major works with attention to literary innovation, aesthetics, and ethics.

Required Reading: Book of the Duchess, House of Fame, Parliament of Fowls, Troilus and Criseyde, and Canterbury Tales.

First Three Authors/Texts: Book of the Duchess, House of Fame, Parliament of Fowls.

Method of Instruction: Lecture and discussion.

Method of Evaluation: Short biweekly essays, term tests, two papers.
