Brief Description of Course:  To deal with time limitations and to avoid overlapping with other courses taught in the Department of English, we will engage in a detailed study of six significant poets from the United States, Northern Ireland, and Australia.

Required Reading: Larkin, Collected Poems (Faber—available online through U of T Libraries); Ammons, Selected Poems (Expanded Edition, Norton 1987—please purchase this text through online vendors); Muldoon, Moy Sand and Gravel (FSG 2002); Lauterbach, Or to Begin Again (Penguin 2009); Rankine, Citizen. An American Lyric (Graywolf 2014); Kinsella, Drowning in Wheat (Picador 2016).

First Three Authors/Texts: Larkin, Ammons, Muldoon.

Method of Evaluation: Two short essays (15% each); term paper (30%); exam (30%); participation (10%).
