Brief Description of Course: A study of Virginia Woolf as a novelist, literary critic, and social theorist

Required Reading: Virginia Woolf, Jacob’s Room (Penguin); Mrs. Dalloway (Oxford); A Room of One’s Own and Three Guineas (Penguin); The Years (Penguin). Selected essays and short fiction will be posted on Blackboard.

First Three Authors/Texts: A Room of One’s Own, Mrs. Dalloway, Jacob’s Room.

Method of Instruction: Seminar.

Method of Evaluation: Seminar presentation and write-up (25%); essay outline and annotated bibliography (15%); research essay (35%); participation and short assignments (25%).
