Brief Description of Course: A close study of Chaucer’s major works with attention to literary innovation, aesthetics, and ethics. This is a year-long course on Chaucer’s poetry and all primary texts will be read in Middle English.
Required Reading: Book of the Duchess; House of Fame; Parliament of Fowls; Troilus and Criseyde, and Canterbury Tales.
First Three Authors/Texts: Book of the Duchess, House of Fame, Parliament of Fowls.
