Biography

Ben Walsh is a librarian at the University of Toronto’s St. George Campus where he is appointed to support students and faculty in the Department of English and at the Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies. Ben is also a collections librarian in these subject areas, purchasing new books and resources for the library. Before his appointment to support English and drama, Ben held a number of other positions at the University of Toronto including librarian for psychology and librarian for aerospace studies. Since 2019, Ben has been an instructor for graduate studies in the Faculty of Information.

Before joining U of T, Ben was co-owner of Glad Day (the oldest queer bookstore in the world), he designed and led literary tours specializing in India and Nepal, he sold books at Toronto indies Type, Book City, Nicholas Hoare, and This Ain’t the Rosedale Library, and he spent two seasons in the acting company of the Stratford Festival. Ben studied theatre performance at Humber College, English and theatre studies at the University of Guelph, and library and information science at the University of Toronto.
