Biography
Selcuk Maslak (he/him) is an MA student in the Department of English at U of T. His research focuses on Victorian literature, especially the intersections of queerness, fantasy, and socialism. He is interested in writers such as William Morris, Edward Carpenter, and Oscar Wilde, as well as broader cultures of utopianism, aestheticism, and radical politics in the late nineteenth-century. More specifically, he examines how Victorian fantasy and socialist writings imagine alternative social orders, and how these texts negotiate the possibilities of queerness within the cultural politics of the period.
