Biography

J Hughes is a PhD candidate co-enrolled in the Book History & Print Culture collaborative specialization. They have special interests in artists' books, interdisciplinary collaboration, and experiential learning in the fields of art and literature. Hughes holds an MA in English from the University of Maine Orono and an MA in the History of Art & Architecture from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. For the 2023-2024 academic year, Hughes serves as a BHPC Printing Fellow at Massey College and a Northrop Frye Doctoral Fellow at Victoria College. In the past year, Hughes has especially enjoyed building a Provisional Press with Professor Claire Battershill and crafting sundry books and boxes with bookbinder Don Taylor.
