Biography

Salima Tourkmani-MacDonald was born and raised in Riverview, New Brunswick. She received her BA in English Literature from St. Thomas University in Fredericton in 2022. She developed a passion for creative writing in high school with a particular affinity for poetry. Much of her work is inspired by lived experience, and hinges on themes of race, displacement, and family. She is the inaugural recipient of the Carol Shields Prize Foundation Scholarship in Creative Writing.
