Brief Description of Course
This course will focus predominantly on the craft of writing short fiction. Through various writing exercises, analysis of published short stories, and discussions of technique, we’ll engage in practical, hands-on means of developing skills with character, voice, escalation/tension, dialogue, theme, and the like. In a primarily workshop format, you’ll provide feedback on each other’s short stories, as well as strengthen your own editing and critique skills. We will also give some attention to the business of writing, such as how to navigate submitting stories to markets.
