Biography
I am broadly interested in the intersections of religion, text and empire in the global nineteenth century. My dissertation will focus on the history of Christianity in colonial northern India and Bengal. I look primarily at the textual sphere generated by the encounter with Western missionaries as a site of linguistic tension, as well as one of simultaneous but unequal cultural production on the part of both colonizer and colonized subjects.
