Professor George Elliott Clarke Joins Celebrations for the Release of 'Black Activist, Black Scientist, Black Icon: The Autobiography of Dr. Howard D. McCurdy

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, Professor George Elliott Clarke attended a book launch and celebration of the release of Black Activist, Black Scientist, Black Icon: The Autobiography of Dr. Howard D. McCurdy (Nimbus Books), edited by Professor Clarke. This autobiography portrays the remarkable life story of Canada's first Black tenured professor of biology, Dr. Howard D. McCurdy. Dr. McCurdy was a founding member of the Canadian Association of University Teachers, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, and is credited with naming the NDP in 1961. Hon. Greg Fergus, Speaker of the House of Commons, hosted the book launch.
